Travel around the world at Disney’s Epcot! Mexico is just one of 12 international pavilions surrounding the World Showcase Lagoon.

Buenos Dias!  Travel “south of the border” and visit the Mexico Pavilion at Epcot… with its Aztec pyramid rising high in the sky. This pre-Columbian pyramid is patterned after the Temple of Quetzalcoati at Teotihuacan. Stroll through the lush gardens with tropical plants and orchids patterned after the jungles of Yucatan.

Fun Fact: Epcot‘s nightly fireworks display is controlled from atop this pyramid every night.

Step inside the pavilion to the cool ambience of the Plaza de Los Amigos… reminiscent of an outdoor Mexican marketplace at twilight. Wander through the hacienda courtyard illuminated by lanterns overhead and shop for authentic souvenirs… pottery, jewelry, piñatas, and the ever-popular sombreros. Try one on for a perfect photo op!

Central to the plaza is San Angel Inn Restaurante… inspired by the 17th century San Angel Inn in Mexico City… and offering fine dining in a romantic candlelit setting. Many of the original recipes are on the menu today. Tables have a view of a Mayan pyramid amidst a tropical jungle… with wild bird sounds and rumblings from the smoking volcano!

Enjoy house specialties…

For a unique experience, visit La Cava del Tequila in the Plaza de Los Amigos… a tequila bar with an array of tequilas, specialty margaritas and tapas — appetizers — served in a hacienda cellar atmosphere. Sample a few tequilas with their La Cava Tequila Flight. Be daring and try a Jalapeño Margarita with fresh Lime Juice, Jalapeños and Agave Nectar.

Savor their Avocado Margarita with fresh Avocado, Lime Juice, Melon Liqueur and Agave Nectar with a Himalayan Hibiscus salt rim.

La Hacienda de San Angel is the newest lakefront restaurant offering authentic Mexican cuisine and premium margaritas amidst Old Mexico charm. Fresh house made tortillas and salsas add a delicious new taste to the cuisine. An ideal venue to watch Epcot‘s fireworks show explode over the lagoon.

Try tapas like…

  • TlayudasOaxacan Tostadas with Barbacoa Beef, Chipotle Black Beans, Chorizo, Mexican Sour Cream & Pickled Onions

Share a Parrilladas for 2…

  • La Hacienda — Grilled New York Strip, Chicken al Pastor & Chorizo served in Esquites

The outdoor lakeside La Cantina de San Angel features an array of taco selections. Their fresh Churros with Caramel Sauce are a must for dessert! You may even hear the traditional Mexican sounds of the strolling mariachi band.

Of course, here in Mexico, there are margaritas served nearly everywhere! Grab one at the outdoor thatched roof “Margaritas” shack. Choose from Classic Lime, Strawberry or Mango Margaritas with optional tequila floaters. Or opt for their specialty margaritas like… Fuego Verde — with Mezcal, Jalapeño, Cucumber, Lime Juice & Agave. Quite refreshing!

Take in the entertaining attraction — Gran Fiesta Tour — inspired by the 1944 classic Disney film, The Three Caballeros. ¿Dónde está Donaldo? Hop aboard one of the boats and help search throughout Mexico for Donald Duck with his compadres, José Carioca, the Brazillian parrot, and Panchito Pistoles, the Mexican charro (cowboy) rooster. Float along and see the sights of the country… ending with the ever popular Disney finale… fireworks… over Mexico City.

You just may meet upon the Three Caballeros in person before you say Adios to the Mexico Pavilion!
