In an effort to reduce wait times at select supercharger locations, Tesla is implementing a change where the user will be limited to charging with an 80% battery full cap.

The move is full time for less than 10% of locations and another 8-9% of locations will be date specific limited, meaning that only on certain holidays like Christmas week and events like Choachella will have the limit apply.

If you are on a long drive and set this as a “pass through” charge you will be able to fill to 100% charge, Tesla currently are not letting anyone know of any other exceptions for this new cap.

This is happening at the same time that they are launching a new On Route Battery Warm Up which will warm up your battery to the optimal temp for charging.

These 2 changes will allow them a 34% increase in the number of cars per hour they can service at these clogged locations.
