Pastor of Grand Rapids First, Sam Rijfkogel, is happy that his church helped pay off the debts of nearly 2,000 people.

The $1.8 Million Dollar of medical debt was purchased from non-profit group that helps pay off debt named RIP Medical Debt. The non-profit agency has paid off $624 Million Dollar medical debt since it’s formation in 2014.

The church members are happy to have paid off the debts of nearly 2,000 people most of whom live in poverty. One person’s forgiven debt was slightly over $75,000.

Pastor Rijfkogel said, “They owe us nothing. We can be peacekeepers. Just as Jesus forgave and canceled the debt of our sins, we also canceled the debt of those in our community.”
