Everyone loves the chips and salsa at Chili’s. It might be one of the best bar foods in America.

Recently this recipe started trending on the internet about how to make real Chili’s salsa at home for free. Even better still you might have all the ingredients you need right now at home since many of the products used are both common and shelf stable.

Here is the mock Chili’s salsa hack recipe the internet is in love with …

1 can Rotel Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies, (14.5-oz)

1 can whole tomatoes plus juice, (14.5-oz)

1 T canned diced jalapenos

1/4 cup diced yellow onion

1 tsp minced garlic

1 to 2 T chopped fresh cilantro, (optional)

1/2 tsp sea salt (the recipe calls for it but I didn’t add any and it tasted fine)

1/4 tsp sugar

1 T fresh lime juice

INSTRUCTIONS Place jalapenos and onions in a food processor and pulse for a few seconds. Add both cans of tomatoes, garlic, cilantro, salt, cumin, sugar and lime juice and process until well blended. Do NOT puree. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours before serving. Serve with your favorite tortilla chips.

Don’t worry if it doesn’t turn out perfect, there is always Door Dash for the real deal salsa in under an hour. 🙂
