Cracker Barrel, the restaurant chain known for it’s all you care to eat biscuits, is moving into the fast casual sector to sell premium biscuits.
They had a test chain of 7 locations quietly simmering on the back burner for a while, but now just acquired Maple Street Biscuit Company. They will re-brand their 7 fast casual locations Maple Street Biscuit Company.
Now with 35 company stores and a few franchises Cracker Barrel is poised to become a top contender in the fast casual sector.
The purchase of Maple Street Biscuit Company is an all cash transaction, for 36 million dollars.
Cracker Barrel will be converting seven of its Holler & Dash Biscuit Houses into Maple Street Biscuit Company stores. “The breakfast and lunch-focused fast-casual category is an attractive segment, and our experience with Holler & Dash has reinforced this belief,” Sandra B. Cochran, Cracker Barrell President and CEO said in a statement, “We have long admired Maple Street Biscuit Company with its emphasis on made-from-scratch food and hospitality.”
